What is a balanced breakfast for a baby?
So that's a very good question and the answer is: it depends! Yes, it depends on your baby's age, and then on their hunger. Until the start of solid food, that is to say between 4 and 6 months, it's only milk that will satisfy your little one. Then, they may need a little more to last until lunch. So, while milk (in a bottle or at the breast) remains essential until the age of 3, you can also give them fruit in addition, right from the start of solid food. Then, from 12 months, you can add cereals with milk and fruit (the three pillars of a good breakfast) because their energy needs increase quickly. This will also be an opportunity for them to discover new textures and flavors.
So, what does that mean, in concrete terms, is what we give our darling babies, who are starving at the crack of dawn, to eat?
