Organic infant milks combining the power of nature and science.
Not affected by the recall concerning cereulide, our infant formulas are subject to rigorous controls

What does the regulation say?

At Biostime & Inostime, quality and safety are our absolute priorities in order to guarantee you high-quality formulas that meet your baby's nutritional needs*.

To ensure this quality, we implement extremely strict analysis protocols that go beyond applicable regulatory requirements.

But what are these analyses? We'll tell you everything!

First, let's talk about the regulations surrounding infant formula. Infant formula is regulated in France and Europe by Regulations (EU) 609/2013 and (EU) 2016/127, which set out compositional criteria and permitted communication methods. These regulatory requirements were developed based on an opinion from the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), which takes into account the latest available scientific studies and is conducted according to guidelines established by recognized expert committees.

When infant formula is produced using organic farming methods, additional regulatory requirements apply to the composition, production, processing, distribution, import, control, and labeling of these products. These requirements are detailed in Regulations (EU) 2018/848 and (EU) 2021/1165 and must be applied because finished products can only be marketed if they meet all the requirements applicable to each link in the food chain: from the field to the point of sale (receipt of food ingredients and packaging materials, during manufacturing, on the finished product, and during storage).

Our quality commitments

These analyses determine whether a batch or ingredient can be placed on the market or used in production, respectively. If any of them fail to meet specifications and regulatory requirements, the batch or ingredient is rejected.

All our batches of infant formula are subject to systematic and regular analyses which are conclusive:

  • Nutritional analyses such as protein, vitamin or mineral content.
  • Microbiological analyses to guarantee the sanitary quality of our products.
  • Analyses of residues of contaminants such as heavy metals or mycotoxins.

In addition to these systematic analyses, we conduct analyses according to a pre-defined annual control plan, which complements the one implemented by our production partner. These analyses primarily focus on detecting residues of contaminants such as pesticides, perchlorates, dioxins, and PCBs.

Our partner, the Isigny Sainte-Mère Cooperative, has a COFRAC-ISO 17025 accredited quality control laboratory (scope available at www.cofrac.fr). This accreditation, rarely obtained by a laboratory testing infant formula, confirms and guarantees the laboratory's high level of technical expertise, and above all, the reliability of its analytical results, thus allowing us to rigorously and precisely control all stages of manufacturing our finished products to guarantee their complete safety.

In total, more than 250 quality analyses and 3,000 checks are carried out on average to manufacture a batch of Biostime or Inostime infant milk powder, from the receipt of ingredients, packaging and collection of milk from farms to the shipment of finished products.

At Biostime & Inostime, we go beyond regulations.

We also have additional, equally stringent control and monitoring plans that go beyond the analyses required by regulations. These analyses are carried out by accredited and independent external laboratories.

Thanks to our quality expertise, Biostime and Inostime infant formulas are developed to meet regulatory requirements and beyond, because the safety of toddlers is and will always remain our priority.

In our FAQ , under Our brands > Biostime, you will find an example of analyses implemented as part of our annual control plans carried out in an independent external laboratory.
