Keep cool, we'll answer all your existential questions right here.
What starchy foods for a baby?
After 4 months, your baby will experience an incredible adventure: weaning . After vegetables , fruits , meat and fish, starchy foods will arrive in your child's life. Pasta , bread, wheat semolina, pulses, rice, polenta, bulgur, tapioca, quinoa, potatoes, corn: there's plenty to do!
At what age should we offer starchy foods to a baby?
The discovery of starchy foods is done in two stages: we start gently at 4 months with infant flours (gluten-free at first) and potatoes, which can be added to a smooth vegetable puree. After 6 months, we broaden the range of possibilities: rice, small pasta, quinoa, corn or even tapioca. And finally, from 9 or 10 months, legumes make their grand entrance (be careful, always in a well-mixed puree)!
But then… How do we prepare them?
As your baby is still far from being a chewing champion, it is important and necessary, before 6 months, to finely blend the potatoes to obtain a very smooth puree or soup. You can also opt for flours (rice, buckwheat, chestnut, cassava, wheat, rye, barley, etc.) mixed with dairy or vegetable soup. From 8 months of age, you can start blending your purees a little less, to gradually introduce texture . For example, you can add small, soft pasta to your vegetable purees . Good news, Good Goût has launched a range of Baby pasta! Your baby will love our 2 organic pasta recipes: tricolor star pasta with vegetables and risoni pasta with durum wheat semolina .
Age: OK. Preparation: OK! And at what meal should you give starchy foods to a baby?
Early in the morning , you can add infant cereal to his milk. Otherwise, you can also opt for the evening meal ! For example, you can be inspired by the following menu: a feed (or infant milk) followed by 130g of vegetables with cereals or starchy foods. From 10 months, starchy foods will also have their place at snack time with baby biscuits !
