Babies and children allergic to cow's milk: what healthy and tasty alternatives can we offer them?

APLV or IPLV: 4 letters for Allergic/Intolerant to Cow's Milk Proteins.

Let's be honest, being a new parent has its ups and downs! Food allergies definitely fall into the latter category. When you learn that your child has CMPA (cow's milk protein allergy) or CMPI (cow's milk protein intolerance), you can feel a little lost… You might even feel overwhelmed, and we understand. Don't panic! Faced with this allergy that often appears before the age of one in our little ones, Good Goût has developed a whole range of adapted recipes. It would be a shame to deprive children with allergies of the great adventure of taste! Because even if they are not numerous – 2 to 3% of infants develop CMPA during their first year of life* – they, too, have the right to enjoy delicious food!

Dairy-free recipes for babies with allergies or intolerances

How can you replace cow's milk? What can you offer them for dessert? How can you keep things interesting? Once a cow's milk protein allergy or intolerance has been diagnosed, and in consultation with your pediatrician (or an allergist or dietitian), you'll have to face these challenges every day. The first thing to do, of course, is to get into the habit of checking labels. At Good Goût, it's simple: our ingredient list is always kept to a minimum, and everything is clearly stated!

COW'S MILK TO BE EXCLUDED

We'll be hunting down cow's milk, of course, but also all products containing it: dairy products, cheese, butter, cream... And since in most cases, babies with CMPA (cow's milk protein allergy) are also allergic to goat's and sheep's milk, you'll need to be vigilant. To make things easier for you, we've added a "dairy-free" filter to our online shop's search engine. Simply check the box to find original recipes for plant-based yogurts or ready-made meals guaranteed free of cow's milk protein: neither as an ingredient, nor as traces sometimes declared below the ingredient lists. It's child's play!

Here are the specifics of the key ingredients in our plant-based blends:

  • Coconut milk is obtained by pressing coconut pulp and mixing it with water. It has a sweet and pronounced taste. It is naturally rich in zinc and iron.
  • Almond milk is an oil-based milk. It is made from almonds that have been pureed and mixed with water. Its taste is subtle and fragrant. It is naturally rich in fiber and healthy fats, and very easy to digest.
  • Oat milk is made from oats and water. It has a mild, light taste and is rich in calcium and fiber.
  • Spelt plant-based drink is made from spelt and water. We love its mild taste and smooth texture.

Two CMPA packs to simplify parents' lives

And because we know that time is precious, we've also come up with 2 packs without cow's milk, so you can stock up without any hassle! With small meals, fruit pouches and plant-based smoothies (made from oats, spelt, coconut milk or almond milk).

They are adapted to the specific needs of babies with CMPA or CMPA from 6 months old . The good news is that, moreover, an allergy or intolerance to cow's milk protein does not affect your little one's weaning process : you can therefore follow the same pace and maintain the same stages as for any other child, simply with the necessary precautions! So, let's look on the bright side.

The statistic that brings a smile: 50% of babies recover from CMPA by age 1, 75% by age 2, and almost all babies by age 3!*
