Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! The teeth are out!
We often hear that we adults couldn't bear the pain of teething...that just goes to show how brave our babies are! While it takes suffering between 4 months and 2 years before we can fully enjoy life's pleasures, here are some expert tips to support and soothe our babies during this time.
Signs of teething
Before you see the little white tip emerge from your baby's gums, you can recognize that your baby is teething by your child's behavior:
- He's chewing on everything he can find and drooling more than usual . Teething is starting, and the increased saliva production is growing. The dampness can be uncomfortable for your baby. A simple bib will help keep his little neck nice and dry.
- His cheeks and/or buttocks are red , this is the alarm signal of his gums kicking in.
- He's become grumpy, sleeps less and has a fever , the tooth is about to come in!
Help, my baby is in pain!
Every parent will tell you, there's nothing worse than seeing your baby suffer! Fortunately, there are simple ways to soothe our babies during teething:
- Homeopathy ( Camilia , have you heard of it? A homeopathic medicine to soothe your baby when they are teething) or amber necklaces which help to calm teething in some babies.
- a dose of special baby Doliprane in case of fever above 38.5° (always depending on his weight).
- Gum massages with a small, suitable toothbrush , dental gel, or even just with your little finger (obviously very clean); this can do him good.
- A teething toy is a great way to soothe sore gums. They come in all shapes and textures. Some can even be placed in the refrigerator to provide a cooling sensation. Wooden rings, plastic toys, or the ever-popular giraffe—all these little toys will entertain your baby and help without them even realizing it. To help you choose, Good Goût has selected the Matchstick Monkey. It's our top pick! This adorable and colorful little plastic monkey allows your baby to easily grasp, target, and soothe their pain. The small bumps on the back of its head make it easy for parents to apply gel or granules. It can also be placed in the freezer to soothe sore gums with the numbing effect of the cold. - Give your baby chewable foods, like bread or biscuits . But not just any kind… Choose those that aren't too sweet! And at Good Goût, we've created a whole range of biscuits perfectly suited to your baby's nutritional needs. The latest addition to the range, the round vanilla biscuits , are suitable from 10 months: ring-shaped and significantly less sweet than a standard baby biscuit, they're perfect for endless chewing.
With your teething rings, oils, little brushes and other toys, you're fully equipped to deal with your baby's teething.
