If you've bitten off more than you can chew while preparing baby's meal, here are some tips for storing leftover food. Here's a look at the right timing and the best containers...
Preparing large quantities of purees for your baby is a great way to avoid having to cook every day. However, there are a few rules that must be followed to the letter to avoid any unpleasantness:
- Always throw away any leftover food that has come into contact with your baby's mouth. This is because it can contain bacteria.
- A dish can only be reheated once to be served again.
- If you freeze portions to serve later, be sure to put the mixture in the freezer as soon as it has cooled. Also, remember to clearly indicate the contents and the freezing date on the packaging. Ideally, you should not freeze these purees for more than 3 months before serving them to your baby. And, just like us adults, you should never refreeze a thawed meal!
Regarding the GOOD TASTE small dishes, we recommend serving only a portion to start, then adjusting according to your little one's appetite! This allows you to keep the rest to serve them again the next day.
Once the bag is opened, the contents can be stored for 48 hours in the refrigerator, in an airtight container.
You can use glass storage containers with plastic lids. But our favorite is these super healthy 18/8 stainless steel containers (BPA-free), which keep baby's food intact, without the migration of unwanted particles: Kids konserve containers .
Please note: these are not microwave safe.
