How to choose the right bottle for your baby?

In pharmacies and supermarkets alike, the baby bottle aisles all have one thing in common: they can easily be overwhelming. Materials, sizes, capacities, teat shapes: Dodie breaks it all down for you.

Glass or plastic baby bottle: it's up to you!

At Dodie, we've developed two ranges of baby bottles , one in plastic and one in glass (so no one's left out!). These two very different materials each have their own advantages: robust, durable, and resistant to thermal shock, the pharmaceutical-grade glass bottle has been a benchmark for longevity and strength for over 60 years. For the plastic bottle, it's primarily its ease of use and lightness that make the difference. No need to worry, in addition to being unbreakable, Dodie plastic bottles are, of course, BPA-free* and BPA-free. Choosing between glass and plastic is therefore primarily a matter of personal preference!

Little by little, the bottle grows…

Small, medium, or large: the right bottle is the one that matches your child's size. So, start with small bottles: they hold 150 ml and are perfect as a follow-on to breastfeeding. Then, opt for a medium-sized bottle (270 ml) until your baby is 6 months old. After that, you can easily switch to the large model (330 ml) when you start introducing solid foods. It's simple: the older your child gets, the larger their bottle should be to meet their needs for formula .

And Dodie invented the triangular baby bottle!

You may have noticed (or not!), but not all baby bottles are the same shape. Since its invention in the 1960s by Dodie, the triangular bottle has become a staple in maternity wards. Many midwives will tell you: it's incredibly practical. Easy to handle (for both babies and parents), easy to clean, and ideal for preventing lumps when mixing formula, it also has that little extra something that makes all the difference: it doesn't roll when dropped! Thanks to the ergonomic cap designed by Dodie, it's easy to open with one hand (and that's important when you're holding a baby!).

Which pacifiers are right for my baby?

Now that you're practically an expert on baby bottles, all that's left is to choose the teat. To make the transition from breast to bottle smooth, Dodie has an idea: take inspiration from the anatomy of mothers. With their flat teats closely resembling the shape of the breast during breastfeeding, the bottles in the Sensation+ range make this big change child's play! In fact, babies love them. Adapted to the mouths of tiny babies and available in 5 flow rates, Dodie's flat teats are accepted by 95% of babies**. If you're looking to make breastfeeding a peaceful and smooth experience, then the bottles with round teats in the Initiation+ range are for you! Adjustable thanks to their 3 flow rates that adapt to your baby's sucking rhythm and anti-clumping, these bottles transform breastfeeding into a long, calm flow. The big advantage of the round teat? It doesn't leak, even when she's upside down… Goodbye stained sofa and soggy pajamas! And if you're worried about spit-up, rest assured: our Sensation+ and Initiation+ bottles are all anti-colic.
